The Foundation
On February 26, 2015, the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Breakfast voted unanimously to form the Franklin Township Dr. Martin Luther King Community Foundation, Inc. Officers of the Foundation were elected during the meeting. The Foundation plans, as per our by-laws, to engage in charitable, scholarship or educational services and activities for individuals or entities whose purposes and operations are exclusively charitable, and is in the best interest of the community. Dr. Martin Luther King Community Breakfast will be one of the annual events organized and held by the Foundation.
On March 2, 2015, by-laws of the Foundation were adopted.
On March 9, 2015, Certificate of Incorporation with State of New Jersey was filed and recorded as a Nonprofit Corporation. On the same day, an Employee Identification Number was secured and a bank account was opened in the name of FTMLK. The Foundation was granted a 501 (c) (3) Federal Tax Exemption status by the IRS.
